Christian Resolutions
by David F. Sims

Starting today, I resolve and I dare,
To live for Christ more thankful this year.
To study my Bible more diligently,
To pray more often and sincerely.
To be on time when church service starts,
To wear Christian armor ‘gainst all Satan’s darts.
To love my brother and my enemies,
To see my sins as God Himself sees.
To sacrifice self, even life, for His cause,
To trust in His grace and stand on His laws.
To work for the church, ‘tis His body, you know.
To build up each other, that all may grow.
To thank the preacher for each sermon brought,
And love the teachers for each lesson taught.
To follow the elders who shepherd the flock,
And in times of despair, to lean on the Rock.
To point a sinner unto the light,
To run the race and fight the good fight.
To return a blessing when curses are given,
And forgive others’ sins, that I might be forgiven.
To love the truth and defeat Satan’s lies,
And long for the day when dead Saints shall rise,
And the living be changed in the blink of an eye,
To meet the Lord Jesus up there in the sky,
Forever to live in heaven above,
In the midst of God’s glory and power and love.
This is my hope and for this I pray,
And this, I resolve, to be more Christ-like each day.
